For all you other newbies out
there,"hang on and go" was a popular 
response that I got in reply to my 
question (I did get more responses than were sent to the list).
A few people did mention
that if I could figure out how
to hook a line to my reins so I could
"steer" and it actually worked, I better
market it! From the responses I got, it seems most people teach their horse
verbal commands (which I had done), BUT
when I'm tailing on a gravel road, and
there's lush green grass on the rein 
side of my horse, I might as well be 
1/2 mile back for all the control I have; he makes a beeline for 
that stuff! :) I'm looking forward to
meeting all you UMECRA riders
on the trail this year.
