Not flaming!!! Just defending hunters. Yes, as Lif describes it, that is bad
herd management. But it simply is not the way it works. I have been married
for 20 years to a deer hunter, and he thinks about that trophy buck, looks
long and hard for that trophy buck, and even has one hanging on the wall in
the living room. 9 years out of 10 he brings home the scrawny 4 pointer. The
trophy buck is exactly that because he has been smart enough, and strong
enough to survive multiple hunting seasons ~  and meanwhile has been
covering does. Hunting pressure from humans is not significantly different
from hunting pressure from any other predator species. And hunting pressure
is good herd management.
