I have owned and ridden at least four horses that trot crooked down the
trail, often times crooked while walking up a hill. Every single horse has
carried his head and shoulders to the right and his near hind to the left.
I'm beginning to wonder ... is it just coincidence, or is there something
wrong with the way I ride? I do know that I have one leg slightly longer
than the other ... one pants leg is about 1/2" shorter than the other, and
stirrup leathers are always 1/2 notch off of being completely balanced and
comfortable. I've never really noticed whether every one of those horses
carried his/her tail to one side. I would be very interested in input from
other riders. BTW, I've ridden for over 50 years, so I'm not a green rider,
but I've never taken lessons either, so I'm sure there is much to learn.
