I agree. They also don't care if their less than "perfect"
halter-horse-wannabe (the little guy with the cow-hocks and sloping croup)
goes to the killers. My little rescue colt was an absolute "throw-away" out
of a local show horse halter barn. The rest of the horses looked incredibly
well cared for -- this little guy had a wormbelly and all his bones showing
(fuggedaout hoof care) when I first saw him. The reason? He was cow hocked
and really down on his pasterns PLUS (God forbid) he had a nicely sloped
croup (halter horses apparently have to have a pretty straight croup). Well,
with some corrective trimming (every two weeks for 6 months) his pasterns
(not to mention the club foot they were building on him) are perfect, with
some hills to climb his little hocks are spreading out nicely and, this is
turning out to be a really nice horse. I am soooooo glad I 'rescued' him.
He's gonna be (God willing) my third Tevis horse. Another interesting thing
-- he'll follow me anywhere and trusts me without a moment's hesitation.
Does he know I "saved" him? Nope. Does he sense something special between
us? You betcha.

Sylvia & Chance (Hey!!! What's a throw-away?)
