Mares can be palpated at 60 days and some practice "looking" pregnant.  If we 
all assumed that those that look pregnant were it could be embarrassing.  If 
you check them out then you know what shots are or are not due, what if any 
feed changes you might make.  Seems to me if you sprung for the breeding fee 
you might spring to see if it worked or not.  Lovell
