CTR Vs. Endurance

Laura,
That's frightening! In my area (OH, though I've done rides in IN and KY
as well), the vets are fortunately more thorough. They sometimes have
to argue with the newer riders who can't see the lameness, but a lame
horse will not be allowed to continue. And if one of our regular vets
said my horse was off, even if for some weird reason I couldn't see it,
you can bet I'd gladly pull and be glad they caught it.
That said, the rider still does have to pay attention, as I had one vet
-- not one of our "regulars" -- who OK'd me to go on the 2nd day of a
2-day 60 when my gelding was clearly a high grade 2. OK, maybe the rule
states that grade 2 may continue (though I wouldn't do it) but the vet
called him completely sound.
