a nice option.

I thought the same thing about the number of cases, HIGH! 2 of the
horses were mine. The 24 yr. old mare was vaccinated every year for 22 years.
The 3 yr. old was vaccinated the year before. I was told that the old mare
didn't need one after that many years, ha! The 3 yr. old was coming due
about 1 month before she came down with it. Another observation (as I write
this) both of those cases had turned bastard...hmm.
About the treatment, is was SMZ's. (Sulfur base) Thank God it worked.
The old mare I've had since she was 18 months old. It would have broke the
family's heart to loose her in such a way.
About the other horses all I know of them was some were told not to
bother with vaccinations, why I couldn't tell you. The others were in the
same time line as the 3 yr. old filly. Just about due for their yearly
booster shot (or nasal).
Since then, we make sure the new horses that come in are done prior to
coming onto our ranch. This we also like done 2 weeks before, just to be
safe. Was told that this stuff can linger around for years in the ground.
