Ulcers in horses

HI, has anyone ever had any experience with horses that have ulcers?
Symptoms, how they are diagnosed, treated, etc.? Also any idea how to get
a horse to eat grass hay at rides. My horse loves alfalfa but don't really
want to feed it to him and at rides he refuses to eat much grass hay and I
try to buy the best I can find which is usually bermuda. He'll eat it ok
at home. He has a sensitive stomach and I'm afraid to feed him much else
so he runs out of fuel by the time the ride is over. I do graze him a lot
during the ride and before and after. Tried wet beet pulp but at times he
has had light colic symptoms after the ride when I've fed it on the last
loop. Would carbo charge be the way to go with him? Thanks and Happy
Trails, Kathy
