Yeah, but where does that leave those of us that like to start near the back 
and pick off the "turkeys" that went too fast later in the ride?  I dunno HOW 
many rides I've Top Tenned when I wasn't even in the top 25 at the half-way 
point...

Far simpler to start the LD's a couple of hours or more later--also gives the 
local folks who want to try us on more opportunity to haul in from home on 
ride day, before they are secure enough or hooked enough to want to camp all 
night.  :-)
