More Hahira tales....

Becky here.....official River Run photographer. I had the great pleasure of
going up in that airplane that Angie spoke of to take arial photos of
camp,(it was a 1946 Piper Cub two-seater; one behind the other...), I'm
definitely sending some of them to Endurance News for publishing. It's a
whole new perspective on an endurance camp. Many folks were real interested
in the ones that showed their rigs from "a-far"! Howard got one too; he knew
I was going up, and sat there waving from his
camp <G>. The real rush was when I finished photographing I asked Corky to
"give me a ride" (I'll think twice before I ever do that again! <VBG>). I
said I didn't want to go upside down, so he did the next best thing: he put
it in a stall at 1000 ft and did a corkscrew freefall to 500 ft. WOW- what a
rush! I don't even like roller coasters, but this was somehow different.
Scared the livin' you-know-what outta me; cause for about three of the five
seconds it is falling out of the sky you are wondering whether you will die
or not! Corky explained the mechanics of it to me later, and assured me it
is nearly impossible not to come out of a dive like that ( If that's really
true, what happened to Air-Egypt??????). Anyway, it was a blast, and I'd do
it again. Next year I'm taking orders for custom shots from the air of
individual campsites...
If you are interested, keep an eye on ridecamp, I will post an arial photo of
camp on our Fla distance web page in a couple of days.
As Angie and Susan said, this is one well managed ride, and one of my
favorites to photograph along with Million Pines in the spring. True
southern hospitality at it's finest. Come on out next year and enjoy.
See ya on the trail, Becky Siler
