Re: RC: Re: extra help on trail

The rides I have been on also have something to scoop the
water out at shared tanks. Regarding the mud puddles and
things swimming in them...no way would I drink out of that,
but I must give Phoenix the ability to determine whether the
water is good or not...he has walked away from mud puddles
when I know he is thirsty...because he stops at the next one
and drinks.

I realize endurance horses are some of the best taken care
of horses out there, that I guess wasn't my point. The
point was that all horses can carry a disease that we are
unaware of until it is too late. I grew up being told never
to let your horse drink out of the same bucket/tank that a
strange horse drank out of and god forbid they should touch
noses.

So what it all boils down to is (no pun) is I'm curious what
other ridecampers think about this and how they deal with
it. I know Phoenix is not picky when he comes into vet
check...if there is a bucket of anything in front of him, he
is going to eat it or drink it. Hey some people don't even
know they shared with me :-)))
