the great saddle hunt

Hi Everyone:
I hope you can help us yet again with some advice.  We
are looking for a saddle for our round withered pear
shaped mare, and I think we've narrowed it down to a
sharon saare saddle.  The only thing is that right now
we can't afford a brand new one, so we are going to
try to find a good used one.  The thing is that when I
called the person in our area to fit our mare, he
kinda made it seem that the used saddles were so
custom fit, that we would not be able to get a used
one that would be close to our horses size.  I know he
just wants us to buy a new one, but when I tried to
asking about how the sizing goes (what does all those
letters mean) I kinda got the run around, so if anyone
can tell me it would be greatly appreciated.  Also
does anyone know of a saddle maker in my area how
could adjust the rigging of our future saddle.  We
live in the Livermore Ca. area, not to far from Tracy
(S.F. bay area) Thanks for all your help.  We really
enjoy reading about everyones adventure.
