Re:BC - Weight, time points and LD -oh my



Actually if you take the definition of work as moving a mass over a distance
then the longer the distance the more extra work the horse has done in carrying
extra weight.  When I was calculating BC for my ride I thought it was strange
that 25 mile horses get the same weight bonus as the 50 mile horses.  So heres a
hot topic for RC - should the weight points be scaled by distance?  Should time
points be reduced period? ( its my gut feeling -based on no statistics or
anything - that time points are OK to be the same for any distance because the
difference in pace has to be that much higher to gain the same # of minutes for
the shorter distances) Should the vets have more guidance in the vet handbook in
assigning the points for the vet score portion? -I'm pretty sure that the point
spread on the vet scores varies widely from vet to vet, with some using all 10
points but others using 60% as the "failing grade"
