My experience with CTR is that if you have a horse that is at all flashy
you will be marked down.  This always happens with my very flashy Paso
Fino while the less flashy Paso does not have this problem.  Then some
judges just can't deal with a gaited horse.  Usually longer distances do
solve the problem.  Here in Washington state a minimum distance for CTR
is 20 miles and 25 is the most common.  Personally I prefer endurance.
Our CTRs do not have vets in attendance as judges snd most of the judges
haven't ridden in years and certainly not a gaited horse.  Not my
favorite sport obviously.
