Carla - if you are heavy handed, *don't* use a hackamore!  If you want
to keep seeing nose in the air, you surely will with a hackamore!  I
don't know your riding expertise, but to get the nose down, the horse
will have to be relaxed and/or collected (even both at the same time).
You aren't likely to achieve that with heavy hands, using any gear!  So
my suggestion is to consider re-educating yourself rather than thinking
of new equipment.  By the way, sometimes the nose in the air thing is
because of a hollow back, which can be back discomfort related -> maybe
saddle related and therefore, rider related.  Sorry I couldn't just
provide the name of a magic headstall, but there ain't none!  Lif
