Personally, I don't think the rearing is something you should handle on your
own. Is there a professional trainer you might ask to help you with this?
Please tell me you're wearing a helmet when you ride.
As far as competing with a horse who bucks and rears, it's not advisable.
The start of a race is fraught with nervous energy and can stimulate even a
well-behaved animal into strange behavior. Correct the two vices first and
then proceed with extreme caution, IMHO.
