HI,

Grand Junction, Colorado is a lovely town but who told you that it is
not cold and snowy within five hundred miles from there in any
direction?  You are in the foothills of the Western Slope of the
Colorado Rockies!  Some of the biggest ski resorts in the world are
withing 100 miles of GJ and elevations start at 5000+ feet and go to
11,500.  I live 150 miles due west in central Utah and I love our riding
weather BUT I love riding in the snow, with five layers of clothes.  If
cold and snow bothered me, I would be in real trouble.  Southwestern 
Utah, Arizona or Southern Nevada might be more to your husbands likeing.
