kimberwicke bit/trainer

Thanks to all of you who responded. I've answered a few of you
individually, but I want to address the trainer issue collectively.

In my original post, I mentioned that my trainer won't like the
kimberwicke because she has made it known that she thinks everything can
be accomplished in a snaffle. I should have added "in the ring". She's
omitted any references to trail. I'm assuming she won't like the
kimberwicke because of this and because she's objected to other things I
consider to be standard equipment or procedures for my kid-in-training
(things like a running martingale, riding crop; procedures like mounting
from a block, fence or stool instead of the ground).

Despite our philosophical differences, I will continue to use her
because a.) I've learned enough from her so far to make her worth the
time and money b.) she comes to my barn instead of me having to go to
her barn and c.) I think she's good.

Which brings me to the trainer/client relationship. Yes, I'M paying HER,
but I'm paying for her knowledge and expertise. Opinions I dislike and
don't agree with are a given. I like to "be on the same team" with the
people I purchase these services from and if I can anticipate an
objection, I like to try and have my ducks in a row and be logical about
my reasons for proceeding despite the objection.

I think it's nice that this trainer is going out of her way to come to
my barn too. Maybe not distance or time wise, but she is accomodating
me.

All that said, she might just say "well, I wouldn't have suggested a
kimberwicke, but it seems to be working for you and your horse."

I generally think people should try to get along and that's what I'm
trying to accomplish.

Thanks again for the input!
