stringhalt

Does anyone know if there is any new treatment for stringhalt? A friend of mine is training a quarter horse that she thinks has stringhalt. He jerks up both hind legs one is worse and can only back up one or two steps and his legs don't want to function. She does not think he has a stifle problem. I couldn't find anything current in the archives. Thanks, Karen
