Hi Kirsten, yes, NATRC has similar requirements as far as age of the horse.  
The horse must be at least 4 to compete in the Novice or Competitive Pleasure 
divisions (mileage similar to an LD) and at least 5 for the Open (50 miles) 
division.  Not sure how long the rule has been around.
