At one time I would have suggested several bloodlines I noticed were doing 
well in endurance, but having watched the top horses in the past few years, 
I'm more inclinded to think they are made, not bred by bloodlines.  Start 
with a well-conformed horse with good legs, good feet, and a good back and 
then work hard to turn him into an athlete.  (Of course, some bloodlines have 
those characteristics, but some horses with breeding that no one has heard of 
also have them.)  The people who are riding the top horses have done their 
homework!
