You are so right Teddy!!  The worst deterrent to a would be endurance or CTR 
rider is a horse that you don't feel like you have control of.  I know first 
hand.  I quit riding for two years at rides because of a horse who had the 
upper hand on me.(But I did become one hell of a pit crew and "water boy" as 
my wife calls me!!)  I spent the last three months with a trainer in the 
round pen with my horse, the hard head, and me the hard head.  We both enjoy 
each other so much better and have a great time on rides now.  The round pen 
is the way to go as far as I'm concerned.
