I know of two horse's last year that came home from a pasture and were in 
terrible condition.  About the same as you described.  Anyway, they brought 
the horses in and started to feed in what they said moderate amounts of the 
same products as you mentioned and within a week both horses foundered.  So I 
asked our Vet. (which was the same vet treating the horses) what happened and 
he said, to much of a change.  Stall confinement and increased feed will 
produce the risk of founder.  So be careful.
