Trails Advocacy issues

Ridecamp friends,
I have been asked to participate as a speaker at the OVETS trails symposium
in February (in KY) and I could use a little help.
I have been asked to speak not only on the trail successes we are having
here in Va, but about the problems facing us and others across the country.
Since some problems seem to be regional in nature I am asking you to help me
out.

First: What is the biggest general problem facing trails in your area and
what is being done to address the problem? Do you feel that it is a loosing
battle or that you are gaining ground? Does your state horse council get
involved or have you asked them to? Please don't forget to indicate where
you are from when you answer this question.

Second: What types of events have you held that seem to do the best job at
bringing out trail workers, especially new ones. How do you entice them and
keep them coming back? How do you try to make a day of hard labor seem fun?

Third: Did any of you go to this OVETS program last year, and if so, how
was it?

Thank you in advance to those of you who take the time to respond.
Sally Aungier
Chair, Va Horse Council Trails Committee
