He had bone cancer in his jaw.  I put him down in 1989 at the age of 23.  He 
earned something in the neighborhood of 2500 AERC miles (considering that I 
was in high school, college, and vet school during the prime of his life and 
that there weren't as many rides close by back then, that wasn't too bad), 
most of them in the Top Ten.  He sired some good horses, too, including Sur 
Abdi, Surrablue, and our own stallion Abu Ben Surrabu.  I still miss him, 
even after 10 years...
