RE: grades steeper than 20%

I've always wondered how the steepness is "graded".

The highways thru the White Mtns in New Hampshire and some of the
highways in Colorado, have signs stating what the % grade is.

A 15% grade is a burn-your-brakes-out-downhill-nightmare.

I can only imagine how steep 20% is.... I imagine some skii-trails
to be >20%.

Anybody out there know how to convert %grade into an angle???
(like what % grade is about the same as a 45 degree slope(angle))

Sombody's gotta know this!
