wrapping

Just back off vacation and glimpsed a bit of your wrap discussion. I do
the wrap, wet paper, draw etc. Only difference is I soak the *old* cotton
quilts and the polo wraps (don't use the fleece kind) in ice water before I
wrap. When transporting, I will pour ice water on the wraps if needed with
horse out of the trailer. Last time I did this was this summer coming home
from a training ride in the Auburn area (hot). Almost 3 hours later upon
arriving home, the legs were still cool. I will do what I have to do to
keep swelling down and out if possible. Swelling is a sign of
inflammation. Also guessed I missed your post regarding tendon or
suspensory injury. I am rehabing a mare right now with a superficial
tendon *pull*. Injury 2 months old, we're to the stall + equal size run +
30 minutes riding/day at the walk and of course bar shoes. Next week we
add 5 minutes of trotting. What a drag but the leg looks
fantastic. Ultra-sound showed very minor tear and we re-do that at the
3months mark. If all is well, we can start legging up very slowly. Is
this similar to your protocol? She did this, by the way, on a very
rutted road being a complete jerk! She gets all this rest and I've gotten
to walk, walk, walk by hand and now ride at the walk, walk, walk. It will
be worth it in the end so they tell me.
