Manfred and Puschkin - Long

Sandy Rovane Buytheline
Well, it looks like they are on their way. To the best of my knowledge Gary Ceragioli and Tom Sherwood left Squaw Valley this a.m. to head for Tahoe Meadows. Corky went with them that far. It seems that Cliff Lewis has joined Manfred's expedition. I think Manfred thought he would never get started again. He has a beautiful Cougar Rock picture taken by Peggy Christenson who accompanied him on August 16. If anyone is there who has the time to ride with him, AT A WALK, you will get involved and want to help him immediately. I read Connie Berto's post and want to assure you that he is now drinking water, carrying food compliments of Sam's Club in Sacramento and has increased the weight of his saddle about 5#. I have given him saddle bags to carry his food as well and grain for the horses at lunch as well as water bottle holders from Sport Tack. He has added Gatoraid, Power Bars and Balance Bars to his language. I have heard that Equine Inovations has donated a heart monitor and I know for a fact, as they were delivered to me that Easy Care has given him Easyboots for his trip. In my ride with him from Drivers Flat to Michigan Bluff I lost a shoe and he was amazed at how easy the easyboot was to put on. He is looking forward to putting the "You can rest when you die" sticker on his trailer. He has no sponsorship and just product with a sticker makes him feel that he is getting sponsors. Folsom Lake Trail Patrol donated $350 + to him and South County Horseman's Association donatead $225. He spoke at their meeting on Wednesday night and a handsome, rugged gentleman came up and handed him a $100 bill. Manfred's comment, "I am a rich man. People have come to hear me speak and someone has paid me." This trip is not about money, although I can't imagine why someone has not jumped on the band wagon to promote this man's dream. Interviews are there for the wanting. Granted, it is his dream but look what he has accomplished to date. Out there is a man fulfilling his dream. You are missing the change of a life time for not trying to connect or help him in some manner. The United States is going to be the hardest part of his journey as the countries he has traveled have no gates. Think about that. Mongolia has no fences. This will be the hardest part of his journey. Guys lets help him. I feel like he is the Forest Gump of the horse world. As Connie said about his horses, they aren't pretty but Forrest said "Pretty is as prety does."
