Lazy person's training

I think I will write a book about how to take your whole lifetime to
train a horse, a totally stress free experience that involves expending
the smallest amount of energy.

Over the years, we've come to feel that stress free training, while very
slow in the beginning, winds up being the fastest method in the long
run.

For example: Our horses are all fine with bridges and walking on other
strange sounding surfaces. Why? Because the Lazy Trainer Method(tm) of
training calls for building practice bridges and other things and
putting them out in the middle of the field. That's all you do.
Eventually every horse not only walks on these things (we think because
it's something different and therefore fun to do), but they seem to make
a point of going out of their way to walk on them.

Tarp training: Put one out in the field and forget it. Eventually they
will mess with it and train themselves. Same thing with lots and lots
of objects.

We highly recommend this method! Look for the book at stores near you -
oh, sometime down the line when I get around to it. Lif
