Re: RC: Orthoflex

I'll give another plug for the Orthoflex Traditional model. I have one.
To say I love it would be a vast understatement. Works great for me, and for
the horse. I also use a pad under the booties. Actually, I use a cheap,
relatively thin cotton blanket under the booties. I started doing this as
soon as I bought the OF as I figured it was easier to wash the blanket than
the booties, so the longer I can keep them clean, the better. But have never
had loin rubbing problems, and I guess that's why.
I have heard that OF no longer makes the "Traditional." Bummer. I
really love this model of their saddles.

<< When I decided to buy an Orthoflex (used), I first bought an endurance
cutback. Hated it. Didn't feel like it made the horse happy either. But
then I traded saddles with someone who had an old traditional - sat in
that for the first time and felt like I'd come home - fit both me and
the horse beautifully. I've fixed the loin rubbing problem by tossing
the booties and using a woolback pad. I think Bob Morris deserves the
credit for clueing me into the fact that if the pad and saddle can rub
against each other they won't rub against the horse. My horse's back
(which has always been ouchy in the past) is now 100% with this setup. >>
