Is there some kind of local newspaper in that area?  I think
it would be nice to write letters letting the community know
that word of their willing assistance in a personal crisis has
circulated world-wide. Like when people wrote "Thank you" letters
to Canada when the Canadians helped the two Americans escape during
the Iran hostage crisis.

I know that a lost horse like this is my own personal nightmare.
