Re: Stepping on nails...



She needs to soak that foot with Epsom salts to make sure it drains out ok
and does NOT get an abscess.  Penicillin is not a bad idea but she should
know a simple abscess in the foot left untreated can become septic and even
kill a horse (not the abscess itself but the infection!).  A tetanus shot
is definitely in order.  She could at least CALL the vet and ask his/her
advice about what to do even if she doesn't think it needs to be looked
at!!
