Doris Anderson's passing

One of endurance riding's legends, and a wonderful lady, passed away on
August 3rd at her home in Fallon, Nevada. Doris Anderson was a longtime
member of AERC, with 15,430 sanctioned miles to her credit. She and her
husband, Deane, owned and operated T&A Ranch in the Harmon District where
they raised Arab endurance horses, cattle, and alfalfa.

Deane and Doris managed the High Desert 55 ride from their ranch for over
20 years. Doris was a real high energy go-getter and an inspiration to the
rest of us who were out there in the hot sun waiting on those last few
riders. She was always running around making sure all her volunteers were
well-fed and cared for while still managing to juggle a bazillion other
tasks.

Besides endurance, Doris enjoyed genealogy, doll collecting, photography,
and in 1991 won a Nevada Trophy Big Game Certificate for her pronghorned
antelope. Voted Mother of the Year in 1965, she was also a member of St
John's Lutheran Church. A registered nurse, she worked at Fallon Community
Hospital and Carson-Tahoe Hospital.

Rememberances can be sent to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 1473,
Fallon, Nevada, 89407-1473 or Lutheran Bible Translators, PO Box 2050,
Aurora, IL, 60507-2050.
