The drug doesn't "cause" uncontrollable bleeding.  What it (and other NSAIDs 
such as aspirin, bute, banamine, and yes, aleve) do is interfere with 
clotting time.  So--in the case of the head injury, if the seepage was 
marginal in severity, the difference in clotting time may have been 
sufficient to make the difference between a mild hemorrhage and a severe one.
Just because drugs are available "over the counter" does NOT mean that they 
are without negative side effects.  There was an excellent article written 
for the lay reader about the risks of over-the-counter drugs in one of the 
fairly recent issues of Reader's Digest--some of you might want to dig back 
and take a look at it.
