Pastern Angles

I forgot one of the most important signs that a club foot is
going from Grade II to Grade III and is becoming a serious
impediment to the horse's serviceable soundness: you can
see a crescent on the bottom of the horse's hoof about
a half inch to an inch in front of the frog. The crescent is the
outline of the front of the coffin bone. The coffin bone is
so badly rotated that its rim is leaving its impression on the
sole of the foot. Bad. I wouldn't even bother to x-ray a
club footed horse that was showing a crescent.
