Newbie wanting information

I have had an interest in learning about endurance riding for a long time and was recently referred to this group.  Are there any websites anyone would recommend for learning about endurance riding and making sure it is the right thing to choose to do?  As well as how to get started safely if it IS the right thing for a rider?
