Re: Camp Food

I use canned and dry foods for camping. Pork and beans, chili, stew, and
canned meats and some canned vegetables. (Don't forget the can opener).
'Fantastic Foods' (available at most grocery stores) makes flavored
oatmeal, soups, beans and rice, and other things, in they own containers,
that you just add hot water to. There is also several brand of instant
mashed potatoes that only need hot water. One of my favorite one pot
meals is mashed potatoes with cheese and tuna or corned beef hash stirred
in.

I freeze water in 1/2 gallon plastic jugs, and put them in the cooler for
ice, and drinking water as it thaws. I take apples, oranges and carrots
which really don't need to be in a cooler unless it is real hot.

I take powdered drinks to mix with the ice water for hot days, and cocoa
to drink at night. I use instant milk and can have cereal for breakfast
if I want instead of oatmeal.

You can get real expensive and use freeze dried foods, like for hiking.
Some of them are quite tasty and some aren't.
