great training ride and for a great cause

Well we collected $433.55 in sponsorship money for the St Judes Saddle up
ride in Tuscumbia Alabama!!! That was just a share of the $25,000.00 they
collected from the ride itself!!!! It was a great training ride for Baru and
myslef we had some great trails and some not so great trails( every ride has
those) and we had fun. My partner Her mare pulled a shoe (that was loose
anyway) had to bail after the first four miles. Baru and I did 18 miles and
I handed the reins to my partner and said go for it. Baru and her did a easy
7 miles. Lisa had gotten me and Baru to the ride she desrved a little trail
time. No I am not nuts for letting my partner ride my mare Lisa is a better
skilled rider than me soooooo........
It started out at 4am (MOM its so eaarlly) and we both had a nice bath. I
had two of them actually. Good thing it was a scorcher out there. We arrived
to the trailride at about 1:10 hours ahead of schedule. Good thing I needed
to lunge Baru for about 20 mins it takes Five to get that skito pad warmed
up!!! Love it though!!! it is a gem!!!! I had to peel her off the roof of
the trailer. Two days in a stall tends to unnerve them. Pasture owner moving
his cows in!! (oh boy mom play toys) We warmed up and well we were gone we
got side tracked 2x but not to bad we were on the right trails but we
thought we got lost. mmmmm what is that considered as?????? We went into a
pasture and saw the cutest mule babies in the world (MA what is that with
them big ears?? I never seen that before RUN FOR YOUR LIFE THEY ARE GAINING
ON USSSS) we had some great trails we had maybe .5 mile of paved road which
also had grass next to it in which to walk, run, trot out , skip ,jig, poke
along, sniff the flowers, snif the asphault, sniff the rocks and watch the
birds, cows, dogs, horses,(Fill in blank here) we had a great time. I am here
to say it was a great ride great trails and it was an awesome cause. $20
would have gotten you a chance on a paint colt they gave away or on a
quarter horse baby too. $5 for feed for a year and they had a great auction
I almost picked up a cute set of pink breast collar and girth for Baru I was
out bid. A nice bike went for $200 a lady bought it for her son who is a
patient at St. Judes.
The best part was playing in the creek with Baru I took my shirt off
(sports bra on) and sponged her off then put shirt back on it felt really
great I stink to high heaven now but It was 94 and I didn't care at all.
Lisa wasn't to happy since I had to ride back with her. I borrowed her Sand
and Sable spray great I smell like creek, horse and cologne. If you see one
of these rides it is a great cause and hey it promotes Endurance riding.
There was several of us out there today too. Course some of the older
generation couln't get over me sponging my horse off in the creek with her.
I left my shirt on too I had a sponge by then. Have a great Day all ya'll

Carla and Baru ( MOM when can I go play with my new pasture pals??)
