Darolyn,
  I LOVED your story about Range Richardson helping your daughter at the 
Tevis ride.  Isn't that why we are all in endurance riding instead of 
showing?  We would help anybody or any horse that needs it, adult or child.
  I have never been off my horse, even to tighten a cinch, without somebody 
asking me if I needed help.  The people I ride with are all my friends.  
Just because I beat them or they beat me doesn't change that.  We enjoy this 
game so much that we have enough care to spread around.My pit crew helps 
anybody in my vicinity.  I get help from the pit crews of my competitors.
  I hope all newbies can take hope from this story to realize the 
experienced riders are not just the contentious people we may seem on the 
internet, away from our horses.  We will help you, even to beat us.
