Re: RC: stallion owners/vets

I have a 10 year old stallion . We bred him at age 2 and have bred him
lightly ever since. While he doesn't compete in Endurance he does show quite
a bit in Dressage. I have never had a single problem with him around other
horses. He can stand in a group , warm-up with other stallions, mares &
geldings without any problems. He was taught early how to behave and when
breeding behavior is ok and when it's not . You must have a ritual you go
through when breeding that will completely different from any other . I keep
my stallion in a large paddock ( 1 acre ) next to 2 geldings that he can
touch through the fence if he wants . IMO keeping a stallion in as natural a
setting as possible will keep him sane , strict routine and good training
will teach him manners and make him safe.
