Opinion Check

Hi everyone! It's amazing how someone asks a question and
it starts all of these side conversations on this list!
I've learned quite a bit so far ;) So, I have an opinion
check for folks. Yes, I'm a newbie, so's Dixie. Our goal
for this year is to attempt an official LD :) Definatly
not high reaching! Anyway, my friends and I were
discussing doing this local ride (which is not an endurance
or LD or CTR), but it is lengthy. If anyone is familiar
with my neck of the woods (Omaha NE), we're talking about
River City Roundup. Anyway, it's basically a 5 day 125 ...
about 20 miles a day, slow slow pace. It's mostly cowboys
and roping saddles and QH from what I've been able to find.
Do you think this will be a good practice ride? The
biggest problem I see so far is how many laps around folks
we'll be doing because of the pace :) It would get us
familiar with the camping out aspects, eating/drinking
while going, and working in large herds. Which sounds like
half the battle! Do I believe we are ready for a slow 20?
Yes. 5 strung together might not work ... but we can pull
ourselves if need be with no problem. There will be vets
on the ride, but no official vet checks. My friend and her
husband (they also own TWH) are contemplating going, so
there'd be 2 or 3 of us blazing the trail :) I figure,
we're going to be snickered at just because of our breed,
so I'll use all my endurance gear (tights, english saddle,
et all) and really give them something to laugh at!

Thanks!!

Oh, and I got lots of things to work on from the "Spooky
Stuff" line ....
