Tevis for first 100

The Tevis was my first 100, back in 1986.  Billy was eight years old and
we finished with 20 minutes to spare.   He was heads-up and bright-eyed
at the end, much better shape than I!    What we did, though, was to
complete the Western States 50 three weeks before.  This ride was so
valuable.  You started at 1 pm from the Devil's Thumb area so you would
have the experience of riding the last half of the Tevis at about the
same time of day (and night) as the real thing.   When we completed that
50, I felt like I'd won the lottery because then I KNEW we would finish
the Tevis, and we did.   Cheers (;-),   Connie B
