Carriage driving and speedometers

My husband fixed up a speedometer for my road cart, adapted from his
bicycle Avocet speedometer/odometer. The magnet was glued to one of the
spokes and the sensor strapped to the axle. When calibrated, it was
quite accurate and it's fun to look down and see how fast we are
whirling along. He wrote an article about it that was printed in Driving
Digest magazine some years ago. Caution, though: some harness
competitions forbid these devices, so check the rules first. Cheers
(;-), Connie B.
