back problem

Can't find "Ed the Rolfer's" address, so decided to post to the
list--anyway, this may be of interest to others.
My horse has a muscular sore back problem that I am having a difficult
time resolving--thought I had it licked, but it's (no pun intended!) back!
Last year he had an "acute" problem, probably from a fall. The first
symptom I noticed was he began "tracking in" markedly with his right hind;
the tracking in continued/segued in to a very sore back. I had "tented"
vertebrae at about L3,4,5--in there somewhere; a chiro (2x) fixed that,
then I had the muscles adjacent to that area 'raised' (two egg-sixed
'bumps') for a while--much worse on the left side than the right. Multiple
visits from massage therapist, two from acupuncturist (veterinarian
certified in acu.), etc. Also treated with linaments, magnets--you name
it, I used it! I think perhaps some of my problem may have been overly
aggressive treatment..... Anyway, finally resolved it and did a 50 mile
ride (very mountainous) with no problems at end of season. Light riding in
winter (barefoot, we're talking loafing along), training in spring, no
problem. Did one ride and the soreness/raised muscle is back on the left
side of the spine again. Horse was hitching with right hind a little, but
easily resolved that--can't seem to get the back 'loose' again. Saddle
fits fine, perfect sweat pattern, no white hairs, same saddle he's been in
for years...
I am convinced there is something muscular in the hind end causing this
that I (and several massage therapists) just haven't found--maybe inside by
the groin? or something. Anyone every see anything like this? Any idea
what muscle spasm could cause a flair up on one side of back like that?
Anything? Help!!!! PS--can't find anything in shoulder, whithers,
neck--maybe I'm not looking in the right place? At my wit's end!
 	Terre (witless!!!)
