Most ride managers I know give at least a partial refund. Many RMs do not 
cash the check until after the ride.  We give a full refund until the day we 
order the meals from a caterer (about a week before the ride); if the 
cancellation is made after we submit the food order, we refund all but the 
value of the meals, as we pay for what we order.  Some RMs refund all but a 
reasonable bookkeeping fee.
