I once used some gel designed for sonograms (my pharmacist had received it
an order by mistake and gave it to me to get it off his shelf) but it make
a sticky residue that stayed on Lakota's coat even after a decent sweat
and dried into a sort of shell.  Very strange, and irritating to remove.
So I tossed that stuff and went back to old-fashioned spit. :)  Aloe vera
gel works well too, when I think to buy it.
