Shoes - 2 or 4 ?

Practically every "front only" horse I ever run accross is a jumping
horse. They just love that. Another reason for it possibly is if you
have to cross slick pavement it helps them not slide so badly.

I thought I might be able to get away with only shoeing my husband's
horse front only, since he rode so much less than I did. Then, a lot of
us went trail riding at a new place and there was lots of gravel on the
road.

About 6 miles out Bill's horse got tender footed, so he just got off,
took the horse's hackamore off and hung it on the saddle and set out
walking. The horse would eat awhile, then trot to catch up. I was a
nervous wreck worrying that it would go running off in the National
Forest. Bill informed me in no uncertain terms that the next time I
wanted to save money on shoeing, do it on my own horse.
