While I agree with Linda that this was not the issue that started this 
thread, I have to ask--if the horse needed bute 5 days before a ride, why is 
he at the ride?  Why isn't he at home healing up from whatever injury 
required an antiinflamatory drug?  Other sports tolerate horses who are 
running on the ragged edge and competing far too soon after treatment and 
before healing is complete.  Our sport is trying to discourage that.
