Sharing information

When we moved to our country home with our horses 13 years ago, it was a quiet and tranquil place.  We could hardly see our neighbors' houses and there was almost never any traffic.  Over the years, our area has become more popular and new homes are being built every day.  Traffic has increased tremendously.  With the construction going on around us, big trucks with loud motors are going by almost continuously.  Our house sits back off the road, but with the loud motors, it sounds like the traffic is coming right up to our front door.  And it is much worse if I am actually expecting someone.  I am continusouly going to the front door to check to see if someone has actually arrived.

I recently saw a small ad for a driveway alert system in the back of a Western Horseman magazine.  I sent for the information and discovered they have several models of alarms that sound a tone in the house when someone either drives or walks onto our property.  I bought their wireless model which is very easy to install.  Now when someone arrives, it sounds a tone inside the house.

Our barn is behind the house and frequently when I'm out there with the horses, the dogs will bark and I can't tell if someone has driven up to the house.  I have to walk all the way back to the house to check and, most of the time, the dogs were just barking at birds flying over.  I bought a loud ringing bell from this company and installed it on the outside of the house.  That way, when someone approaches our property, the bell also rings outside and I can hear it from the barn.

This has restored the tranquility of country living for us.  We no longer pay any attention to the traffic on the road.

I have no affiliation with the company selling this equipment.  I'm just so pleased with it that I wanted to pass this information on to RideCampers who live in a situation like we do.  The company is Dakota Alert, Inc., Box 130, Elk Point, SD 57025.  605-356-2772.
