help-sending pics online

OK, I've tried several different ways to send photos by email.
1.  Friend scanned in photo.  I believe it was saved as a JPEG file.	
2.  Tried to send as JPEG file to others.  When I sent to myself as a test, I 
had no problem downloading and opening up the image.	
3.  I don't think anyone else had any luck.	
4.  I tried saving it as a .bmp file.   That did not seem to work either.	

Any ideas anyone?
